The bible is amazing because it unfolds God‘s Story in history. Like any good story, it has a beginning and an ending. It starts with a good Creation; conflict occurs through the workings of Satan and the fall of humanity, introducing the dilemma. The rest of the story is the solving of the dilemma by God and the final triumph of his purpose at the second coming of Christ. All the events in between fit into that story and contribute to the unfolding of the “plot”. And you are now a part of it!
The Bible’s main theme is the Kingdom of God; that is, God’s rule and reign. Sub-themes run throughout, the most prominent of which is redemption. Redemption is the “buying back” of sinful humanity from our rebellion and slavery to sin which is accomplished in the coming of Christ and through his life, death, and resurrection.
